COMBINED TOUR TUNISIA ALGERIA EXPLORER

Day1: Tunis Airport – Tunis 

Arrival at Tunis airport, assistance by your guide than drive to  Gammarth, check in the hotel. Buffet dinner and overnight at  El Mouradi Gammarth 5* hotel

Day2: Tunis – Sidi Bou Said – Carthage – Tunis 

After breakfast,  go to explore the beautiful village of Sidi Bou Said. Continuing to the site of ancient Carthage. This will include the Byrsa Hill and the Archaeological Park centered on the Antonine Baths. Lunch in local restaurant. Drive to Gammarth, check in the hotel. Buffet dinner and overnight at your hotelof stay.

Day3: Tunis Medina – Cap Angela – Bizerte – Hammamet  

After breakfast, going for a short orientation tour by foot of the old Medina ; full of monuments from both the Arab and Turkish periods. Drive to explore the breathtaking cliffs and serene beauty of Cap Angela, a hidden historical gem on Tunisia’s Mediterranean coast. Drive to a small seaside resort ans historictown of Bizerte, also known as the last town to remain under french control. Visit of the sharming old port, the lovely Medina and the Kasbah of Bizerte located north of the old port, it has only one entrance from the west side. Lunch in a fish restaurant. End of the day drive to Hammamet town.

Day4: Hammamet – Kairouan – Tozeur 

After breakfast, drive to Hammamet the touristic town. In the mood for walking tour you explore the wonderfu old Medina with picturesque streets lined with whitwashed buildings, flourishing gardens and deep historical roots. Short stop at the famous coffee of Sidi Bou Hdid than drive to Kairouan. 

Arrive and visit to the great mosque of Sidi Okba and the 3 door mosque as well as the mausoleum of Sidi Essahib, the shrine and the mosque, the Aghalabite water pools from the 9th century and the Medina. Lunch in local restaurant.

Drive to the town of Tozeur. On our arrival, it soon becomes quite clear that the main attraction of this desert city is its vast oasis.  This oasis covers about ten square kilometers which has been planted with some 400,000 palms and is fed by 100 springs. We check in at hotel El Mouradi Tozeur 4*. We’ll have some time to relax then do some exploration of this very interesting and unique town. We will take a horse-drawn carriage into the oasis (optional). We will learn about the date harvest and have the opportunity to sample some local dates. End of the day return to Tunis city

Day5:  Tozeur – 4×4 to Chebika, Tamerza & Ong Jemal –Tozeur 

After breakfast, excursion by Jeep to explore  the Mountain Oasis of Chebika and Tamerzas. In Chebika, take a walk to see the Berber village, waterfalls and the spring of the water before continue to the picturesque village of Tamerza. Continue by 4X4 car to “Ong Jemal” among the sand dunes, and the desert site of one of the Star Wars films (episode 1 and 2 and Lars farm episode 2, 3 and 4). Free time to take pictures in the desert then back to the hotel in Tozeur for buffet lunch. Free afternoon to more explore the old Medina of Tozeur and their souks.

Day6:  Tozeur – El Jem – Monastir - Sousse 

Breakfast in the hotel, departure to El Jem to visit the largest and most spectacular Roman amphitheater in North Africa, the remains of the Roman villas in the town and the archaeological museum. Lunch in local restaurant than continue to Monastir city, arrive and visit of the mausoleum of the first president of Tunisian Republic “Mohamed Habib Bourguiba” than explore the Ribat of Manastir.

Return to the coastal town Sousse. Where we’ll visit its old town called Medina (a UNESCO World Heritage). Check in at hotel buffet dinner and overnight at hotel El Mouradi Palace 5* 

Day7: Sousse – Dougga – Bulla Regia -  Ain Drahem - Tabarka

After breakfast, departure to explore the marina port El Kantaoui than drive to visit the archeological site of Dougga, is the most prestigious archaeological site in Tunisia. Several factors combine to give it a special place in the Tunisian archaeological panorama: its location on a spur overlooking the rich valley of the Mejerdah (Thugga, in the Libyan language, means greenery). Lunch in local restaurant than continue to visit the beautifull site of Bulla Regia located near Jendouba, is a key cultural tourism destination. Despite being partially buried, the site is worth visiting. Begin with Julia Memmia's baths, continue to the intact theater and nearby temple, and explore the necropolis housing the remarkable underground villas. Drive to Tabarka city crossing the forests of Ain Drahem and admiring the greenery. Arrive at Tabarka city and visit of the port and the famous needles. Check in at Dar Ismail Tabarka hotel 5*, buffet dinner and overnight 

 

 Day8:  Tabarka - Annaba - Constantine

After breakfast, drive to the border of Oum Tboul, assistance by your guide. Drive to Annaba the 4th largest city in Algeria. Start our tour by visiting the museum, the site of Hippo Regius, and the Cathedral of St. Augustine. Explore large Roman mosaics and antiques found in the region that are on display at the museum. The archaeological site hosts a large Roman forum and the famous Basilica of Peace where St. Augustine was bishop in the 5th century.

The Catholic Cathedral of St. Augustine built between 1881 and 1900, is located on top of a hill overlooking the site. Visit the Cathedral and pay particular attention to the stained glass windows which retell the story of Augustine’s life. Lunch at local restaurant.

In the afternoon, travel to Constantine which is often referred to as the City of Bridges. Here you will spend the night.

DAY 9:  Constantine – Djemila - Setif

 
After breakfast drive to the UNESCO World Heritage site of Djemila, meaning ‘Beautiful’ in Arabic. The site lives up to its name as it is uniquely situated amongst rolling hills. You will have a guided visit of both the museum and the historic site. Explore the forum, basilicas, baptisteries, Arch of Caracalla, Temple des Septimes, well-preserved Roman market, and theatre. Lunch in local restaurant

Continue to visit of the museum of Sétif, is one of the better museums in Algeria and it alone justifies a stop in Sétif. Displays are well laid out, lit and labelled (in French). There are cabinets filled with pottery and lamps from Roman Sétif, but the real stars are the mosaics in the ground floor central court, which are among the best you will see in Algeria.

Day10: Setif – Tipaza - Alger

Breakfast in the hotel, departure to Algeria city

Not far from Tipasa and more precisely next to the municipality of Sidi Rached, a huge temple in the form of a large dome, stands in the middle of a hill overlooking the sea and the surrounding plains. Nobody but the majority of people who borrowed these landscapes, could ask or at least seek to understand the mystery surrounding this Mausoleum, built centuries ago. Lunch at local restaurant

Continue to visit Tipaza city, arrive and visit of the Roman remains, a beauty of the prehistoric era that is offered to visitors. A heritage that gives this city a historical status. Ruins that are real historical and archaeological landmarks. It is clear that the beauty one can contemplate when visiting these ruins is exceptional

Day11: Alger - Alger

After breakfast, njoy a full-day city tour of Algiers and explore the historic sites and museums. Explore the Kasbah  you will wind your way through the narrow streets to learn about its unique history. Lunch at local restaurant than visit of the Museum of Archaeology & Islamic Art and the Bardo Museum. If you are interested in art, you may also want to visit the Museum Des Beaux-Arts.

DAY12: Alger – Airport Haouari Boumediene Alger

After breakfast, if the time permitted, free time for shopping then tranfer departure to the airport
