DAY1: TUNIS AIRPORT – SIDI BOU SAID - TUNIS
- Arrival to Tunis airport. Welcome and assistance by the Chinese speaking guide.
Visit to the Mediterranean village of Sidi Bou Said The blue and white village under the UNESCO protection thanks to its Turkish, Spanish Andalusian and Arabic styles of architecture mixed together. Sidi Bou Said is the village of the artists’ inspiration, musicians and celebrities. We invite customers to enjoy mint tea with Tunisian cake.
- Check in at hotel El Mouradi Gammarth 5* or similar. Dinner and overnight.
DAY2: TUNIS – MEDINA – CARTHAGE – BIZERTE - TUNIS
- After breakfast, departure to visit the archeological site of Carthage - Founded by Phoenician traders from the Levant as a trading depot in route to south-west Europe, it eventually became an independent and powerful entity in its own right. This
- aroused Rome’s long-term enmity and there followed the famous Punic Wars which eventually saw Carthage’s total destruction. Subsequently re-founded by the Romans we will look over what remains of both cities. This will include the Byrsa Hill where Carthage was founded, c. 814 BC according to Roman sources; a site featuring the characteristic Tophet Graves of the Carthaginians; and the Archaeological Park centred on the Antonine Baths.
- Drive to visit the old Medina of Tunis is made up of two enclaves, the old town or Medina and the new town, built by the French as their administrative headquarters, a role it continues to fulfill today for modern Tunisia. The Medina was founded by the first Arab conquerors and it is full of monuments from both the Arab and Turkish periods, not least the Great Mosque built by the Aghlabid dynasty in the eighth century AD.
- Lunch in the local restaurant “La Coupole” (03 courses set menu) than drive to Bizerte
- Arrive and visit of the old fish port the most charming places in Bizerte, its quay stretching in an arc is surrounding the white houses overlooking the ancient city of the Kasbah. The port where the small boats beautifully land, is frequented by small fishermen who bring in their catch.
- Back to Tunis, arrive at your hotel of stay for overnight. Buffet dinner and overnight.
DAY3: TUNIS – TESTOUR – DOUGGA - KAIROUAN
- After breakfast, drive to Testour, walking tour to discover the blend of Spanish and Mudéjar influences Starting with the great mosque of Testour, you will be ponder upon the clock whose hands turn counter-clockwiseand numbers placed backwards.
- Continue to explore the archaeological site of Dougga. Is located in the North-west region of Tunisia, perched on the summit of a hill at an altitude of 571 m, dominating the fertile valley of Oued Khalled. Before the Roman annexation of Numidia, Thugga had existed for more than six centuries and was, probably, the first capital of the Numidian kingdom. It flourished under Roman rule but declined during the Byzantine and Islamic periods. The impressive ruins which are visible today give an idea of the resources of a Romanised Numidian town.
- Lunch at hotel Thugga
- Drive south to Kairouan. Check in at hotel Kasbah Kairouan 5* or similar. Dinner and overnight.
DAY4: KAIROUAN - GAFSA – TOZEUR
- After breakfast at the hotel
- Visit the historical monuments in Kairouan: The Great Mosk “Masjid Uqbah, the Aghlabid Bassins and the Mausoleum of Sidi Sahbi. (a UNESCO World Heritage)
- Drive to Gafsa, lunch at hotel Gafsa Palace (3 courses set menu).
- Continue to Tozeur, arrive and check in at the hotel Golden Yasmin Ras El Ain 4*. Dinner and overnight.
- Afternoon visit of Tozeur oasis by horse carriages (optional). Tozeur is one of the largest oases in Tunisia and historically, one of the most important centers on the ancient caravan routes leading from Sahara to the Mediterranean and Algeria.
- Continue exploring the oasis by visiting also the Zoo.
- Back to the hotel for dinner & overnight.
DAY5: TOZEUR – 4x4 CHEBIKA, TAMERZA & ONG JEMAL – CHOTT EJERID - DOUZ
- After breakfast at the hotel
- Drive crossing the Great Salt Lake called “Chott El Jerid” the “Gateway of the Sahara and the barrier between the Sahara and fertile North. If we are lucky, we may see some mirages on the horizon, To town
- Arrive and check-in at hotel Sahara Douz 4*. Buffet lunch
- Afternoon you have the opportunity (optional) to ride camel passing through
- deserted landscape and picturesque sand dunes.
- Return to the hotel. Buffet dinner and overnight.
DAY6: DOUZ – MATMATA –EL JEM - SOUSSE
- After breakfast, drive to Matmata
- Visit of the troglodyte caves in Matmata and the Star Wars shooting place.
- Continue to the fishing town of Mahres (near Sfax). Lunch at restaurant “Dar Ammar” (3 courses set menu).
- Departure to El Jem, visit of the Roman Amphitheatre (a UNESCO World Heritage). which could accommodate over thirty thousand spectators in its heyday. This magnificent Roman Amphitheatre is very well preserved, possibly better than the Coliseum in Rome.
- Drive to Sousse, check in at El Mouradi Palace 5* or similar. Dinner and overnight.
DAY7: SOUSSE - (Optional Pirate Boat) – PORT KANTAOUI - HAMMAMET
- After breakfast at the hotel
- Visit of the famous marina of “Port El Kantaoui”.
- Visit of Sousse Medina which is a world Heritage.
- Optional cruise trip in the Mediterranean by the Pirate Boat.
- Lunch in restaurant “La Fiesta” in Sousse (3 courses set menu).
- Transfer to Hammamet, walking tour at the old Medina of Hammamet, the old narrow streets, the open doors of the houses, the delicious aromas of Tunisian dishes, the colorful shops and welcoming Tunisian sellers. visit of the Fort, has a great panoramic views over Mediterranean sea and Hammamet. Then you could have a rest with a cup of delicious coffee made up with a rose water.
- End of the day, check in at hotel Phénicia Hammamet 5*, or similar, dinner and overnight.
DAY8: HAMMAMET– TUNIS AIRPORT
- Breakfast at the hotel of stay.
- Transfer departure to Tunis airport.
